Nick Baxter is a dynamic, versatile drummer whose sound is rooted in the rich musical landscape of Pittsburgh, PA . Nick developed a broad and powerful musical voice shaped by rock, pop, big band, funk, latin, jazz fusion, and blues. That stylistic range continues to define his playing today—energetic, precise, and unmistakably musical.
Immediately after high school, Nick began touring and recording professionally while studying at Robert Morris University. In 2007, he joined The Morning Light, launching him onto the national stage. With the band, Nick toured extensively across the country and shared stages with major artists including All Time Low, Phantom Planet, The Maine, The Rocket Summer, Steel Train, and The Hush Sound. He performed at nationally recognized events such as Bamboozle and South by Southwest (SXSW), building a reputation as a high-impact live performer.
Following the band’s run, Nick continued touring with Delaware-based artist, songwriter, and producer Ian Walsh, further expanding his session and live performance résumé.
In 2010, Nick relocated to Los Angeles to study at Musicians Institute, earning his degree in Music Performance (Drumming) in 2012. Soon after, he accepted a teaching and performance position in Bangkok, Thailand at Rockademy Thailand. While based in Southeast Asia, Nick toured internationally with multiple artists, including DJ Dragon and Hugo, and earned 1st Place in the Drums Category for Trinity College London: School of Rock and Pop across Thailand—an achievement recognizing his technical excellence and musicality.
Upon returning to Pittsburgh, Nick quickly became one of the region’s most in-demand drummers. Alongside teaching full time, he performed and recorded with numerous artists including AMRCNDREAMING, Jacob Klein, and singer-songwriter Josh Herbert. His session work spans respected studios such as The Wilderness Recording, Electric Eye Recording Studios, and The Church Recording Studio. He has also performed extensively in pit orchestras for musical productions and served as a drummer for various churches and live events.
In 2016, Nick toured nationally with Josh Herbert, opening for The Chicks on their North American arena and amphitheater summer tour. The run also featured major acts including Augustana and Anderson East, further solidifying Nick’s reputation as a powerful and dependable touring professional.
Since returning back to Los Angeles in 2017, Nick has continued performing with an eclectic roster of artists, including Fully Fullwood, La Bamba, Mark Pender, and Grammy Award–winning audio engineer DJ Burt Blackarach. He is currently an active member of multiple projects, including 33 Thunder (country), Red Coyote Band (bluegrass/americana), and Heebie and the Jeebies (indie rock).
